In its never-ending quest to be the absolute best at everything, Google has made some convenient changes that will help searchers do a whole lot more when they use the search engine to look for something.

Bing released a similar service at the beginning of this year where users could order food through their website. Google, never one to be outdone, followed suit, and now offers you the ability to place orders at restaurants, make reservations, and book appointments.

What exactly are the changes?

Google’s “local business” page now allows a company to activate a feature via their dashboard that will automatically display a link when a user finds their business using a Google search.

From this link, the user will be able to automatically place orders, among other things. The new feature is built into My Business, and will automatically appear for eligible businesses.

How does it work?

Once the feature is enabled, users will see links to third party websites such as Grubhub that will allow them to place orders or reserve places at restaurants. If you are a business that provides this, then you can fill out the application form on Google’s website. They are not actively seeking new partners in this endeavour currently, though. Only businesses that are connected to current partners are eligible for the service.

Can I request it for my business?

At this time it isn’t possible to request the service. If your business happens to be eligible, then the option will automatically appear for you.

Who is Google partnering with?

Google is currently partnered with Grubhub, Eat24, Delivery.com, BeyondMenu and MyPizza.com. Businesses cannot add custom links, and there are no other requirements other than having a My Business page.

Google has taken another step forward in its quest to provide the highest level user experience possible. Adding this feature has made it easier for consumers to, well, consume. Despite only being available on mobile at the moment, you can expect this change to start showing positive effects immediately.

Nothing beats finding your favorite restaurant in less than a second and being able to instantly order whatever it is you happen to be craving at the moment. What are you waiting for?
